The 4th annual Coastal Wildflower Day marks the start of California Native Plant Week, celebrating the native wildflowers of the San Mateo coast with activities for the whole family.

Discover more about the seaside survivors unique beauty and special features that help them thrive in a windy, sandy, salty environment. This event is filled with activities for the entire family, including: games and educational activities for youth, a habitat restoration project, guided wildflower walks, resources to help you grow your own native plants, artwork, and a native plant sale. Donations for native plants will support the State Beach native plant nursery, which raises plants for restoration projects along the coast. Most activities begin at the Half Moon Bay State Beach visitor center.

Event is free; parking is $10. Biking and walking is encouraged. Heavy rain cancels. For more information, please call (650) 726-8804, or e-mail HMBParksVolunteer@nullParks.ca.gov. Coastal Wildflower Day is co-sponsored by Coastside State Parks Association and California State Parks and is also supported by the California Native Plant Society Santa Clara Valley Chapter.
