Schwab Art

Iconic "That's My Park" and "Adobe Series" illustrations

The original artwork was commissioned to celebrate and support local State Parks and Beaches

Michael Schwab’s local park images bring to life the mission of Friends of Santa Cruz State Parks: to ensure our cherished local parks and beaches are thriving and available to all. He was first commissioned by Friends in 2005 to develop the That’s My Park images featuring Natural Bridges State Beach, Wilder Ranch State Park, The Forest of Nisene Marks State Park and Seacliff State Beach. He added to the collection with two additional illustrations in 2014. Called the Adobe Series, his work features Santa Cruz Mission State Historic Park — home to Santa Cruz County’s oldest building — and the Castro Adobe, the site of a grand two-story adobe that is California’s newest State Historic Park. All of the images evoke the 1930s WPA Era, when Californians first voted to support State Parks.
