Join us for the first Summer Series 2015 event on Friday, May 1.
Fashion-oriented middle had high school students from throughout Santa Cruz County will show off their exploration of art and creativity at FashionTEENS, the first of seven events in the Summer Series at the Santa Cruz Mission State Historic Park.

The First Friday Art & Music show will feature 25 students from the FashionTEEN performance event at the Civic Auditorium on April 17. Students whose designs reflect an entrepreneurial spirit and promote the outdoor lifestyle will be selected for the event.

Refreshments will be provided by Food What?!, a youth empowerment and food justice program that uses food, through sustainable agriculture and health, as the vehicle for growing strong, healthy and inspired teens.

Music will be by DJ Fresh of Sonido Trancazo.

This free event is 5-8 p.m. at the Santa Cruz Mission State Historic Park, 144 School St., in downtown Santa Cruz.

Who you gonna call? Dustbusters!
To help keep the air clear and the dust down this summer on The Forest of Nisene Marks State Parks fire road, the Advocates for the Forest of Nisene Marks, State Parks and us here at Friends of Santa Cruz State Parks plan to apply Dust Off, an environmentally safe dust suppression solution.

Through a collaborative effort last year, our three organizations funded the re-grading of the road from the entrance kiosk to the Steel Bridge, put down 500 tons of new base rock and coated the road with Dust Off. Park users enjoyed the improved road.

Maintaining the road this year is projected to cost $14,500, which will be funded by the Adovcates and Friends. The Advocates have embarked on a fundraising campaign to help fund the project. To date, it has raised $2,000. Donate here.

The positions begin this month. A job description and the application are available online. Learn more and apply.
