Join us for Plein Air Air in Action, a First Friday and Summer Series 2015 event.
Several local artist groups will come together for Plein Air Art in Action, a First Friday event at Santa Cruz Mission State Historic Park and part of the free 2015 Summer Series.

The Santa Cruz Watercolor Society, Urban Sketchers and the Plein Air Meetup group will converge on the Mission for an evening of outdoor art. There will be art displays, as well as work happening live and art activities for kids. The Trailblazers will play starting at 6 p.m.
 
This free event is 5-8 p.m. at the Santa Cruz Mission State Historic Park, 144 School St., in downtown Santa Cruz. Learn more on Facebook.

Celebrate the grizzly bear! 
Visit Rancho Del Oso for the annual Grizzly Bear Festival on Saturday, Aug. 15 from 12-4 p.m. This event celebrates the California Grizzly, a once-abundant predator that roamed the "Ranch of the Bear" in the Waddell Valley. 

The event is free. Learn more on our online calendar. Rancho Del Oso is a unit of Big Basin Redwoods State Park and is supported by the nonprofit Waddell Creek Association. The park is located on Highway 1 about 17 miles north of Santa Cruz. 

Take an online survey about the Agricultural History Project.  
Friends of Santa Cruz State Parks and Agricultural History Project are joining together to ask you to answer a brief survey which will help gauge the community's level of interest in whether AHP should start a Living History Farm at its center at the Santa Cruz County Fairgrounds near Watsonville

Attend the final Castro Open House Days of the summer.
The last Castro Open House Days of the summer will be Friday-Saturday, Aug. 14-15. This is a special opportunity to tour California's next State Historic Park while the property is being restored.

Open House Days are 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Castro Adobe is located at 184 Old Adobe Road. Watsonville (just off Larkin Valley Road).

Watch a Disney classic, 'The Gnome-Mobile,' under the stars. 
Bring the whole family out to watch "The Gnome-Mobile," a 1967 Disney film that was partially filmed at Big Basin, at the free Movies @ the Mission event, Saturday, Aug. 22. The movie night is part of the 2015 Summer Series. 

Gates open at 7 and the movie will begin at dusk. Santa Cruz Mission State Historic Park is located at 144 School Street in Santa Cruz. Learn more on Facebook.
